Hawaii Skimboard League Finals

November 24th, 2009 | Category: News

Aloha from HASL,

The results everybody has been waiting for from the Exile Skimboards Mini-shaka Shakedown @ Sandy Beach, Oahu.  We started right on time with a hide tide, strong trades, and plenty of wind swell.  The waves actually got a lot better towards the middle of the day and the winds slowed a little.

16 and under -  1st Colin Camp 16 from Maui is the little brother of the league champ Clark Camp and is gaining his brother’s skills.  2nd Alex Stannard 16 from Oahu is a Sandy’s local and skims plenty of spots around the island .  3rd Kanoa Akana is our youngest member at 9 and is from Maui and charges.  Keep an eye out for these guys.

Women’s – 1st Natalie Nakasone from Oahu can be seen with the Sandy’s crew practically everyday and it looks like it paid off.  2nd Jasmine Joy another Sandy’s local charging everything in sight. 3rd Shiho Yamamoto originally from Japan and showing how it’s done.  These 3 ladies are leading the sport out here in Hawaii.

17 – 21 – 1st Tyson Tsuda 21 originally from Kauai but spending lots of time at Sandy’s.  2nd Alex Bee 22 from Oahu and part of the Sandy’s crew.  3rd Forrest Dein 17 from Maui practicing his skills at Big Beach and then getting barrels at Sandy’s.

22 and Up -  1st Tom Albritton 23 originally from Maui but going to school on Oahu and ripping it.  2nd Matt Dillon legend in his own time.  3rd The Godfather John Tingey still suffering from being ill.

Men’s Advanced – Was the largest division with 11 skimmer’s. It came down to one last Final featuring “Ace” Anthony Conlon from Kauai, Sept contest winner Keith “Party” Fowler, Points leader going into it Kyle”Little Man” Olson, and Clark “Sharkboy” Camp from Maui. The waves were solid for this super stacked finals.  The skimming was so good it was really hard to tell who won.  The results after adding up the wave scores are as follow:

1st place Clark Camp, and with this win boosted his points to become HASL’s first champion and title of the best skimmer in Hawaii.  2nd Kyle Olson from Maui and 3rd Keith Fowler also from Maui.  Thanks to these guys for putting on a good show.

The league scores are posted on the website.  We did the awards ceremony at Alex Bee’s house after the contest.  The results for the 2009 season are:

16 under – 1st Kanoa Akana, League Champ 2nd Alex Stannard 3rd Colin Camp

Women’s – 1st Jasmine Joy Women’s, League Champ 2nd Nikki Lee 3rd Angi Hoffman
