We are deeply saddened that LeRoi Moore, saxophonist and founding member of Dave Matthews Band, died unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon, August 19, 2008, at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center in Los Angeles from sudden complications stemming from his June ATV accident on his farm near Charlottesville, Virginia. LeRoi had recently returned to his Los Angeles home to begin an intensive physical rehabilitation program.
We have tickets to see DMB on the 27th, he will be deeply missed! Thanks for the memories!

The final heat was just skimmed. Domke, Beaker, Corbin Dull, and Woody were the final four.
I’ll be updating again soon when the results are posted. Big props go out to Corbin for really upsetting the competition and making it to the final. He skimmed incredibly smoothly, and could very possibly have won it. Woody also skimmed really well, and could won it too. Actually, who am I kiding?? Any of them could have won it…
I’ll have the full results from the semi-finals and from the finals posted soon, so check back!
HERE THEY ARE:
1. Corbin Dull
2. Brad Domke
3. Woody Harris
4. Beaker
5. Austin
6. Monster
Huge thanks to Steve Pullera and everyone involved for putting a great event. I had a great time, and look forward to next years.
And for all of you who have been following the contest on here, keep a heads up, because I plan on trying to do this for a lot ofbthw major contests.
Thanks for tuning in,
Jesse
Vilano Contest Update #6
Pro quarterfinal results are shown below. Some of the really surprising finished were Brandon Rothe getting knocked out early. As you can see, the heat that Paulo and Dave Scott were in was super close, but it was really shocking that Dave got 4th. It seemed like he had put on a really solid performance. But Domke and Beaker both skimmed really well, Domke pulling every move off incredibly smoothly and Beaker skimming switch a good part of the time.
Both Aaron Astin and Stephen Bradford also skimmed an amazing heat. Bradford really looked like he was at home on the flat conditions, and Astin really is at his home beach.
Despite the waves, everyone’s still really stoked to see the pro’s skim again.

Another super-rad awesome exclusive interview with EOS team rider Woody Harris.
Me: So… what do you think?
Him: Well, it’s dissapointing to see the beach set up so well for waves, and to just not have swell. The slope is steep and would be great for a big swell, but with these little waves, it actually makes it harder.
Deapite the meager waves, the pro’s continue to make our jaws drop by throwing every imaginable combination of tech tricks. The second round of the Pro heats got cut short because of this:
(I’ll post results when they’re available)

Well, conditions are still looking pretty bleak. I would even venture to say it’s worse than yesterday… But that’s the nature of the ocean…
I’ll be posting the pro results soon, but for now he’s a shot of what the waves are looking like.
Here’s the pro-results from the first heat:

Well the rain cleared, but the waves didn’t come…
Here’s the heat sheet for the first round of pro heats:
(The heats of 3 people had one person eliminated. Both people advance from the heats of 2 people.)
The actual results aren’t going to be posted until tomorrow morning…

Just about everyday during the summer in Florida it rains. Unfortunately for us, today is no exception. It’s not just raining though… A huge thunderstorm just rolled in, so everyone has evacuated the beach. We will hopefully run prelims later today.
The waves did pick up a little bit though, so hopefully it will keep getter better.
Stay tuned for more info
